Quote of the Day:
"For me, it’s a question of the way we pursue our creative dreams. There is something in our culture that says your dream or the thing you’re pursuing has to happen immediately and all at once, and that is destructive to the creative spirit. I just embraced the idea that this was going to be a gradual exploration of the thing I was interested in – making films – and gave myself permission to go slowly.” ~Ava Duvernay (Filmmaker)

Webseries Wednesday!

3/18/2020

So while most of us are being responsible members of society and adhering to the social distancing life, bingeing Netflix and Hulu shows is a must! I've literally gone back and forth between dozens of episodes of The Office and Broad City this week. But I figured since many of the Artists I know are currently unemployed and could use some attention, it would be a great idea to share some content by some of my favorite Creators! Many of the following shows feature episodes that are fifteen minutes or less, therefore you can get through an entire season in an hour or so! Lastly, I'm going to be transparent AF right now that a lot of these shows I have a personal connection to, while that may make me biased, I still think they deserve to be seen by new audiences for sure! Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
SWIPED TO DEATH
created by Kabir Chopra

Premise:
Swiped to Death is a comedy web series that explores the messy realities of online dating, told from both a male and female perspective. Starring Kabir Chopra (Horror Time) and Reema Sampat of Orange Is The New Black.

Why should YOU watch?
It's a hilarious look at the world of dating featuring two talented Brown actors and based on real life date stories. You will laugh and cringe then laugh some more!

OR SO THE STORY GOES
created by Melissa Malone

Premise:
Or So the Story Goes uses a rotating repertoire of actors, telling a different story each season to bring a thrilling, unique perspective on classic children's tales to the web. Geared toward young adults, the series is perfect as a gateway for young adults (and adults alike) to dip their toes into the murky waters of horror.

Why should YOU watch?
It's American Horror Story meets Hans Christian Anderson, the better question is why aren't you watching yet?!

TWO GROWN
created by Alana Johnson and Jourdan Guyton

Premise:
Two Grown is loosely based on the lives of Alana and Jourdan, playing an aspiring singer and actor respectively, and living together in Harlem. Alana is a feisty Latina who steadfastly believes the rules don’t apply to her, whereas Jourdan is the more reserved and responsible of the two. However, she often finds herself getting lured into situations by Alana that she wouldn’t find herself in on her own. New York City itself is also a lead character in this series, as the story unfolds in its various locations and landmarks.

Why should YOU watch?

Watching these two brilliantly talented women of color share their comedic experiences in New York City is a riot. You can not NOT fall in love with these ladies!

BROS
created by Anthony Dimieri

Premise:
Bros is the story of four fratty, arrogant, young men attempt to find a balance between functional alcoholism and perpetual adolescence as they navigate the harsh and unforgiving territory of New York City.

Why should YOU watch?

This hilarious spoof on the HBO comedy Girls is raucous fun! Season 2 was shot during the 2016 election cycle yet it is still as relevant as ever.

SHAW
created by ME (Jason A. Coombs)

Premise:
SHAW follows Shaw James, a misunderstood and awkward black male going through a quarter life crisis fueled by a series of unfortunate events, leading him to therapy, which he wants no part of.

Why should YOU watch?

The ensemble of comedic actors are a talented bunch of scene stealers. Mix that with a lot of heart, you have six episodes definitely worth checking out!
